Nirgendwo zu sein ist manchmal die einzige Möglichkeit, hier und jetzt zu existieren. Diese Ausstellung geht der Frage nach, was es bedeutet, unter Bedingungen von Entwurzelung, Migration und Stille künstlerisch zu arbeiten. Sie entfaltet sich in einem konzeptuellen Raum, der zugleich leer und erfüllt ist – gefüllt von unausgesprochenen Gedanken, die sich selbst entziehen und dennoch für alle spürbar sind.

Verankert im Surrealismus und durchzogen von Ironie erzählt die Künstler:in die Geschichte einer fremden Figur – dem Alien –, das mit Staunen und Irritation durch geordnete, kontrollierte Räume wandert. Wie Newtons Apfel fällt auch dieses Wesen um gesellschaftliche, urbane und zwischenmenschliche Strukturen neu zu hinterfragen. Die künstlerische Reise entfaltet sich in surrealen Fotografien, Videos, Objekten und Performances. Daraus entsteht ein spielerischer und zugleich präziser Blick auf Konzepte wie Ordnung, Kontrolle und Effizienz. Das Projekt lädt dazu ein, das Fallen nicht als Scheitern, sondern als radikale Strategie von Transformation und Neubeginn zu verstehen.

Slips, Trips, Falls is a multidisciplinary project by Artist of MQ Artist-in-Residence for May–June 2025, that reimagines the act of falling—not as failure, but as a transformative force that fractures systems, shifts narratives, and allows new realities to emerge. Inspired by a recurring dream of falling, the work reflects a neurotic response to the pressures of a hyper-productive society, dismantling its illusion of safety and control.

Rooted in surrealism and irony, Artists’s narrative unfolds through the dreams of the Alien—a displaced figure navigating rigid, regulated spaces with confusion and curiosity. Echoing Newton’s apple, the Alien falls to Earth not to reveal physical laws, but to question and reimagine the structures of urban, institutional, and interpersonal life. The journey manifests through surreal photography, video, sculptural objects, and performance. Together, these mediums form a playful yet incisive inquiry into systems of order, discipline, and productivity. Embracing uncertainty, irony, and estrangement, the project invites viewers to see falling as a radical act of transformation and rebirth.
