Die ASoP Stipendiat:in präsentiert Hidden Wounds, eine Beschäftigung mit Transformation und Widerstandskraft der Kunst in Zeiten des Krieges. Inspiriert von den Bemühungen, kulturelles Erbe während militärischer Konflikte zu schützen, gestaltet die Künstler:in Schutz-„Rüstungen“ für Skulpturen aus Materialien wie Planen, Schaumstoff und Sandsäcken. Diese Schichten wirken wie eine neue Haut für die Skulpturen, verändern ihre Form und Bedeutung und symbolisieren eine tiefere Metamorphose in traumatischen Erfahrungen.

Im Rahmen dieses Projekts wird die Künstler:in die Bronzestatue Alter Kentaur mit reitendem Eros vor der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien verhüllen. Durch diese symbolische Verhüllung wird die Aktion zu einer Reflexion darüber, wie Krieg nicht nur Menschen, sondern auch Kultur und Kunst nachhaltig prägt – und uns an ihre bleibenden Narben erinnert.

ASoP fellow presents Hidden Wounds, an exploration of transformation and resilience of art in times of war. Inspired by efforts to protect cultural heritage during military conflicts, she creates protective “armor” for sculptures using materials like tarpaulins, foam, and sandbags. These layers serve as a new skin for the sculptures, altering their form and meaning, symbolizing a deeper metamorphosis rooted in traumatic experiences.

As part of this project, the artist will cover the bronze statue Old Centaur with Riding Eros in front of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. This symbolic covering becomes a reflection on how war leaves a lasting impact not only on people but also on culture and art — a reminder of enduring scars.
